Beer, Sausage, and the Pursuit of Happiness

I lay down my reading, it's Tuesday afternoon I leave home in a hurry 'cause happy hour starts soon I stroll down the sidewalk, cars rush along cross busy streets singing this song: di-diddy di-diddy di-diddy di-diddy di-diddy di-diddy di some folks'll jeer for I've no career and I spend most my days in a bar drinking beer they'll rant and they'll rave how pennies must be saved, but they've no chance to spend them 'til paying for the grave I know the world's unfair and nothing's for free, but spending all my days working is no life for me I pass by the banker in his suit and tie and for all his long hours his throat must be dry he's every man's envy, rich as can be but for the next couple of hours he'll be jealous of me 'cause he knows I'll be singing: di-diddy di some folks'll jeer for I've no career and I spend most my days in a bar drinking beer some call me selfish, they just can't see that I'm here to stimulate the economy With my palate whetted for what's in store I take a last look around as I reach for the door I get a scowl from the mom rushing her kids back and forth but a smile from the old man with a pipe on his porch 'cause he knows that I'm singing: di-diddy di

oh it's happened again I should've known when to say when I've woken up at 4 a.m. with the room spinning to the bowl with all speed drop down on my knees I pray, urge, and plead 'cause I'm being scourged for my gluttony oh the world seems under glass diarrhea comin' out of my ass my head is one big ache it's high time I took a break but it'll happen again even though I know when to say when and I'll end up feelin' like shit

I do revere sausage and beer a product of the world's greatest engineer I volunteer to serve sausage and beer for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day of the year I will adhere to sausage and beer as the staple of my diet, it helps me persevere it's certainly clear that sausage and beer when served on my plate will soon disappear you should combine sausage and wine when serving guests whose tastes are refined I'll build a shrine to sausage and wine and worship before it so I'll never be maligned sausage and wine is surely a sign that God created grapes so they could be served with swine Rome's decline can clearly be assigned to the day they outlawed sausage and wine serve sausage and beer and friends will appear their gratitude will be most sincere even the austere black-marketeer will put on a smile when served sausage and beer I do revere sausage and beer a product of the world's greatest engineer I volunteer to serve sausage and beer for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day of the year
