Awakening 04:40
Mind is clear as the sun disappears for the first time in years Mesmerized by fireflies, colors in the sky Awakening, rediscovering all these things bring peace of mind Way past time to finally draw a line, just let things be fine Unwind Haven't read while laying in bed listening to crickets in far too long Lulled to sleep by their songs
2.
driving around late at night the air is warm the moon is bright no destination in mind following roads as they wind lazy summer aimless nights sing along to all of the songs on that old mixtape other people put this place down saying there's nothing to do in this town but turn the key and drive pick up some friends, feel alive lazy summer aimless nights sing along to all of the songs on that old mixtape sing along and escape
3.
Limping 03:43
limping through the days in a perpetual haze worn and patronized, diverting your eyes all roads seem to lead back to a field of weeds every small victory just a drop in the sea can't walk on water to save those drowning or keep history from repeating
4.
Opaque 01:41
I am opaque like a deep lake never know what lies below you'll never see through don't want to let you I am content being distant completely reserved as I sit and observe you'll never get near don't want you here I hide behind a bottle of wine helps obscure so you're never sure you'll never see through don't want to let you
5.
I don't know where to go but I'll get there so at ease I let the breeze take me anywhere in our own ways, stumble through the days nowhere in mind, follow roads as they wind

My Early 20s 02:44
my early 20s were a pleasure as I wallowed in my leisure among the bluffs along the Sound I'd get stoned in the morning, go exploring, and let my thoughts abound when I was young time in the sun felt like it would never end I'd let my feet take me to my favorite retreat on the beach a mile or so away in the water I would swim, whistling hymns, as I whiled away the day when I was young time in the sun felt like it would never end spent the days in a blissful haze, Lord take me back again the best times I remember are on the beach in November after all the summer folks went home it was just my dog and me so she'd run free, splashing through the foam
7.
Pining 01:49
when I was young I would dream about climbing hills and crossing streams with nothing to tie me down, spend my days wandering around now that I'm older it seems all I do is stare at screens from my desk I sit and pine for the days spent wandering through the pines
8.
Snow Day 03:02
gentle snow, nowhere to go curled up cat on your lap clouds let as the sun sets ground glows white in moonlight
9.
New Plan 03:50
tired of waking up with a broken cup and a sigh sick of writing about the same thing all the time don't know if it's a hex or a complex but it strains so tonight let things be alright: abstain sit back and play guitar rediscover who you really are take the car for a drive let yourself feel alive tired of waking up with an empty cup, disarranged so tonight let things be alright for a change

scotch and soda mud in your eye baby do I feel high oh me oh my do I feel high dry martini jigger of gin oh what a spell you've got me in oh my do I feel high people won't believe me they'll think that I'm just braggin' but I could feel the way I do and still be on the wagon all I need is one of your smiles sunshine of your eyes oh me oh my do I feel higher than a kite can fly give me loving baby I feel high

Dirge 00:43
12.
your last hour came when least expected it is clear from one glance at your unmade bed by the half-knit sweater laying on the sheet ne'er to be complete the Lord's sense of irony makes me think since you'd ne'er be caught with that mess in the sink as a monument to His will stands a pile of pots and pans fate is as He commands follow your advice: "Tu es gleich"
13.
Faith 04:01
so often feels just spinning wheels as the tank runs dry stranded somewhere thumb in the air as the cars rush by don't blink an eye most of what we know was learned long ago we're all old dogs can't navigate with maps out of date they just befog for ages we've relied on ancient books as our guide can't know what awaits all we have is faith

Old Melody 03:21
old melodies written by three though distant for years songs still endear

about

I once again found myself revisiting old songs. Some of them got new lyrics and structures, others just improved recordings and arrangements. Lyrically it's akin to journaling, touching on a variety of thoughts and feelings with a healthy dose of nostalgia.
